With the support of the Turkish Triathlon Federation (TTF), the preparations for the organization to be hosted by the Yenişehir Municipality of Mersin continue.
The tracks of the European Triathlon Cup, which will be held on Adnan Menderes Boulevard and on the coastline, where the world's best triathletes will take the stage, have been determined.
With the participation of approximately 600 athletes from 27 countries, including Turkey, in the competitions to be competed in the categories of adults and youth, the athletes will first enter the sea from Fenerbahçe Square and swim 750 meters.
Participants who complete the track will get out of the sea and get on a bike at the change station, and will cycle for 20 kilometers in 3 laps between the Archeology Museum and Mersin Marina junction.
Participants who finish the stage will run 5 kilometers, with 2 laps as the last.
At the same time, within the organization, European Triathlon Youth Cup and parathlon points league races and sprint competitions will be held with the participation of Turkish athletes.
Yenişehir Mayor Abdullah Özyiğit told Anadolu Agency (AA) that they continue to support all branches of sports.
Özyiğit stated that they had organized the Yenişehir Triathlon twice before, with the support of the TTF, and that they would host another very important organization.
"Athletes from all over the world can participate"
Özyiğit stated that athletes from all over the world will participate in the European Triathlon Cup and continued as follows:
"Although it is a European organization, athletes from all over the world can participate. Currently, 174 foreign athletes have registered. There are Olympic, world and European champions among them. It is very valuable to have them. The President of the European Triathlon Federation, Renato Bertrandi, will be our guest in the organization. We will be very happy to host you in . We want foreign athletes to come, see and tell the whole world about Mersin and Yenişehir."
Özyiğit stated that the preparations for the organization are continuing at full speed, "It is no coincidence that this organization was given to Yenişehir. We have completed two complete events before. Both the federation officials and the athletes were very happy. Here, a deep blue sea will be run under the palm trees, both athletics and cycling. "There are many beautiful tracks related to this. Now we are experienced from the accommodation to the organization of the job. I think we will not lack anything in European races." he said.
"Triathlon has become a brand in Yenişehir"
TTF Provincial Representative Çağatay Çakar said that they believe that the European Triathlon Cup will go well.
Reminding that Turkish races were held in Yenişehir before, Çakar said:
"Now we are organizing a European organization. I hope we can organize races here as well as the European finals. Now, triathlon has become a brand in Yenişehir. As the Federation, we like the track very much."
